Laurie Schaffner won the prestigious 2007 American Sociological Association, Distinguished Contribution to Scholarship Award for her qualitative research, Girls in Trouble with the Law, from the Section on Childhood and Youth in NYC on August 13, 2007.

Barbara Risman won an award for Mentoring from the Sociologists for Women in Society. She was awarded a plaque at a banquet in New York City.
