Prospective Grad Students - Funding |
|
|
|
We usually fund all entering students. Within the constraints of
university budgets, we make a commitment to provide funding for four
years of graduate training. Our first year students are usually
funded as teaching assistants, although occasionally they may also be
awarded a university fellowship or a research assistantship. All
academic year teaching or research assistantships are for half-time
(e.g. 20 hours per week). During the second and third year,
graduate students may receive fellowships or work either as teaching or
research assistants. All students receiving fellowships will be
expected to mentor with faculty researchers or assist a faculty
member in the classroom for ten hours per week. During their
fourth year of study, most students will be allowed to teach their own
section of an undergraduate course.
